EMDR Therapy

Healing trauma and finding relief through a gentle and effective approach.

Many people carry emotional wounds and difficult memories that affect their daily life, relationships and wellbeing. These experiences can leave us feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected. EMDR therapy offers a compassionate and evidence-based way to help process and heal these distressing memories so you can move forward with greater peace and strength.

As a psychologist trained in EMDR, I provide a safe and supportive space where you can work through trauma and other challenging experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a unique therapy that uses gentle, guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help your brain process and integrate painful memories and emotions.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to discuss your trauma in detail. Instead, it helps your brain reprocess those memories, so they lose their emotional charge and become less distressing over time.

EMDR is supported by a strong body of research and is recommended as a treatment for trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties.

How EMDR Therapy Can Help

EMDR therapy can be particularly helpful if you experience:

  • Trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Phobias and fears

  • Grief and loss

  • Low self-esteem or feelings of shame

  • Distressing memories or flashbacks

  • Emotional overwhelm and difficulty regulating feelings

  • Relationship difficulties linked to past experiences

Supporting Trauma and Relationship Healing with EMDR

Trauma can deeply affect how you feel about yourself and relate to others. Painful memories and emotions sometimes get stuck and influence your relationships in ways you may not fully understand.

EMDR therapy helps by gently guiding your brain to reprocess these difficult experiences, so they no longer cause intense emotional pain or interfere with your daily life. This can lead to a greater sense of safety within yourself and improved ability to connect with others in a healthy way.

In relationships, EMDR can support healing by addressing the underlying trauma that impacts trust, communication and emotional closeness. It can also help you develop more effective ways to manage emotions and respond to challenging situations.

Through EMDR, many people find relief from old wounds and build stronger, more fulfilling relationships with themselves and those around them.
